Dieting may feel like it's helping you in the moment to focus your energy and mind on something that you can seemingly control. However, it actually takes away your sense of control in knowing what you want to eat, when you want to eat and how much you want to eat. It takes away your ability to enjoy food without a sense of guilt. It slowly strips away any confidence and appreciation for your body. You're left with the problems you were avoiding through dieting in addition to the new problems above and unfortunately, often times many more...⠀
⠀
Intuitive eating frees you from the need of control. It instills trust in yourself and in your body. You're free to eat what, when and how you want. You cultivate an appreciation and respect for your body and treat it with more care. You embrace rather than resist life. It inevitably gives you the space to deal with what actually needs to be dealt with for your own personal growth. ⠀
⠀
Personally, intuitive eating (coupled with therapy) was what brought me to a place in my own recovery that I never imagined possible and am grateful for every single day. ⠀
⠀
If it's something you want to work on check out the book and workbook by @evelyntribole and @elyseresch. If you want more personalized guidance, feel free to reach out to me here or via my website (link in bio) to discuss working together at my office in NYC or virtually. ⠀
