About Samuel Gray the Violinist
Sam began playing violin at the age of nine, studying privately in the studios of Patricia Cosand, Steven Moeckel, Sarah Plum and Gary Kosloski. He is a graduate of Drake University, where he received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. While earning a degree in Actuarial Science and studying for actuarial exams, Sam served as the concertmaster of the Drake Symphony Orchestra – a role that he won during the first concert cycle of his freshman year.
In the Summer of 2016, Sam moved to New York City and worked as an actuary for three years. Upon returning home from a 2-week excursion to the South of France for the Zodiac Music Academy and Festival, he decided to retire from the insurance industry and pursue his life’s passion of making music.
In addition to performing, Sam serves as a member at large on the Greenwich Village Orchestra board. He still utilizes his business degree by working as a marketing consultant for Musae, a professional streaming company for musicians.
